  • The Ulster Fry - The Best Cooked Breakfast in the World

If you're not from Northern Ireland, we will forgive you for not knowing what an Ulster Fry is. Basically, its like the best Full English you’ll ever eat - a full English on steroids, you could say!

What makes our Ulster Fry recipe stand out from the pack is the sheer quality of our meat products. Our black and white puddings are still made to the same recipe as they were 100 years ago, our sausages are expertly spiced and made with natural casings, our bacon is dry cured and thickly sliced and our vegetable roll has less fat and more flavour. Serves 4.

How To Cook Your Ulster Fry

    Preheat your oven to 180°C
In a lightly oiled non-stick frying pan, fry our vegetable roll and white pudding over a medium-high flame until both sides have picked up some colour. This will take 2-3 minutes on either side
Arrange the sausages, vegetable roll and white pudding on a tray with a rack and place in the oven. Check the sausages and vegetable roll every now and again to make sure they are cooking evenly.
After 20 minutes, fry the black pudding slices over a medium-high flame until both sides have picked up some colour. This will take 2-3 minutes on either side. Once this has cooked, you can wrap it in tinfoil and put it in the oven to keep warm.
In the frying pan, fry the bacon slices and tomato halves over a high flame until the bacon is cooked. This will take 2-3 minutes on either side. Once the bacon is cooked and the tomatoes have picked up some colour, you can put it in the oven to keep warm. (dont worry about wrapping this in tinfoil).
Now its time to fry your eggs. Break the eggs very carefully into the non stick frying pan, and cook over a medium-high heat until the whites are cooked through
While the eggs are frying, empty the beans into a saucepan, and cook over a low heat while you organise the other components of the breakfast
Lightly butter or oil both sides of the potato farls and soda bread.
As soon as the eggs are cooked, remove them from the pan and put the bread pieces in. The bread won't  take long (1-2 mins on either side), so while they cook, plate up all the other components of the breakfast.
Eat with a large pot of breakfast tea and a splodge of brown sauce!
